Brett joined JWR Design full-time in June of 2010, following seven years of part-time employment while he completed his Bachelor of Arts degree at Dordt College, and his Masters in Architecture, at the University of Colorado Denver. Leaving Lynden, Washington in 2003, Brett gained valuable experience in landscaping, construction, engineering, project management, and architecture, working with firms such as Brailsford & Dunlavey of Washington DC, and Heery Design of Denver, Colorado.

At Brailsford & Dunlavey, Brett worked directly with many well-known universities including Duke, North Carolina State, Texas Tech, & San Diego State, developing master plans to assist the universities in future building strategies. Brett spent his time at Heery Design modeling & detailing major medical centers and justice centers, enhancing his knowledge of commercial architecture from schematic design through construction documents. During this time, Brett also earned recognition as a LEED Accredited Professional (Leadership in Energy & Environmental Design), among the first at Heery Design’s Denver branch.

Brett’s knowledge in efficient, spatial and sustainable design will greatly augment the firm, as will Brett’s continued determination as he pursues his architectural license. Brett enjoys many outdoor activities, including golf, soccer, biking, and fishing. He and his wife Erin, a Mount Vernon native, have one little girl, Emri (June 8, 2010).
